Operational Excellence for Engineers: From Lean Six Sigma to Big Data (Audio Course)
- Course Number: B1022
- Credits: 1 hours
- Instructor: Ellen Huang, PE
- Price: $10
Course Outline
“Operational Excellence for Engineers” blends proven methodologies with modern tech to boost speed, quality, and margins. You’ll apply Lean Six Sigma (DMAIC), value-stream mapping, and process standardization to cut cost, defects, and cycle time while raising capacity and customer satisfaction. You’ll also use analytics—including Monte Carlo risk simulation—and explore digital enablers like SOA and cloud/mobile computing to scale impact across the enterprise.
At the end of this course, there will be a multiple-choice, open-book quiz, which is designed to enhance your understanding of the course material.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, the student will:
- Be able to map value streams and identify waste, bottlenecks, and CTQ drivers;
- Be able to apply DMAIC to reduce defects, cost, and cycle time;
- Be able to model risk and variability with Monte Carlo and design KPIs/dashboards;
- Be able to align processes and digital systems (ERP/CRM/SCM, SOA/cloud) to scale improvements.
