Course Outline
This course examines the ADA Standards for accessible parking as explained in the U.S. Access Board’s technical guide. Topics include required numbers of accessible and van accessible spaces; alterations and additions; location and dispersion across parking facilities; and provisions for garages, hospital outpatient facilities, rehabilitation and outpatient physical therapy facilities, and residential facilities. The course also addresses parking-space and access-aisle dimensions, accessible routes, surfaces, markings, vertical clearance, pay stations, and identification signs. Guidance for electric vehicle charging stations and common scoping and technical questions reinforces the distinction between required provisions and recommendations.
At the end of the course, a multiple-choice, open-book quiz reinforces your understanding of the course material.
