- Course Number: C1014
- Credits: 1 hours
- Instructor: Ellen Huang, PE
- Price: $10
Course Outline
Low Impact Development (LID) is an approach to land development and stormwater management. The purpose is to mimic the site's natural hydrology by utilizing methods that allow rainwater to infiltrate into the ground. LID can be applied to new developments, urban retrofits, and revitalization projects. In this course, you will learn various techniques that provide temporary retention areas, increase infiltration, allow for nutrient (pollutant) removal, and control the release of stormwater into adjacent waterways.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, the student will:
- Understand the impact of stormwater on our waterways;
- Understand various types of green stormwater infrastructure;
- Learn the innovative stormwater management practices; and
- Realize the importance of stormwater management.
