Understanding PFAS in Drinking Water: A Guide for Engineers (Timed & Monitored)
- Course Number: C1055T
- Credits: 3 hours
- Instructor: Ellen Huang, PE
- Price: $30
Course Outline
This course provides engineers with an essential understanding of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), often called "forever chemicals." Participants will learn about the health risks, regulatory standards, and treatment methods associated with PFAS in drinking water. Emphasizing the EPA's new drinking water regulations, the course explores engineering approaches to monitoring, reducing, and eliminating PFAS contamination in public water systems. By the end of the course, students will be equipped to implement solutions that protect public health and ensure compliance with national PFAS standards.
At the end of this course, there will be a multiple-choice, open-book quiz, which is designed to enhance your understanding of the course material.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, the student will:
- Be able to understand the health risks and environmental impact of PFAS exposure;
- Be able to explain EPA regulations and standards for PFAS in drinking water;
- Be able to identify engineering solutions for reducing PFAS contamination; and
- Be able to apply monitoring and treatment techniques to meet regulatory compliance.
