The Light Bulb Revolution
- Course Number: E1001
- Credits: 8 hours
- Instructor: Ellen Huang, PE
- Price: $80
Course Outline
They may look the same, but the light bulbs of today are almost nothing like those of yesterday. The light-emitting diode (LED) is one of today’s most energy-efficient and rapidly-developing lighting technologies. Quality LED light bulbs last longer, are more efficient, and offer comparable or better light quality than other types of lighting. This course defines what is light, discusses typical types of light sources, provides an overview of the history of light bulbs, and compares the efficiency between different types of light bulbs. In addition, students will learn about smart bulbs that allow for lighting customization and control such as scheduling or on-demand control of light color and brightness.
At the end of this course, there will be a multiple-choice, open-book quiz designed to enhance your understanding of the course material.
