Course Outline
Engineers, architects, and land surveyors play a vital role before, during, and after disasters. In this webinar, we will discuss various types of natural hazards, explore disaster data and trends, and examine each stage of the disaster life cycle. We will study the damages caused by Hurricanes Katina and Sandy, describe the important new features of the overall defense line that now encircles greater New Orleans, and discuss how to protect New York City and surrounding areas against future hurricanes. In addition, we will cover the following topics in detail: building homes in coastal areas and National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) elevation certificate.
At the end of this course, there will be a multiple-choice, open-book quiz designed to enhance your understanding of the course material.
