Course Outline
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to geothermal energy, exploring its origins, applications, and significance as a renewable resource. The course materials are based upon Chapter 2 of the U.S. Department of Energy report, GeoVision: Harnessing the Heat Beneath our Feet, DOE/EE-1306, Washington, D.C., 2019. Participants will learn about geothermal energy production, including power generation and direct-use applications, as well as the technologies used for geothermal heat pumps. The course also highlights the environmental and economic benefits of geothermal systems, offering insights into their role in sustainable energy solutions.
At the end of this course, there will be a multiple-choice, open-book quiz designed to enhance your understanding of the course material.
