Understanding Pipe Supports

Course Outline

Pipes are used to carry liquids, gases, slurries, or fine particles. A piping system is generally considered to include the complete interconnection of pipes, including pipe supports and in-line components such as pipe fittings and flanges. Expert opinion says that among all piping design issues, 20% of issues are directly related to support design and the other 20% are indirectly related. So overall 40% of the problems in the piping design are related to pipe support. In this course, you will learn various loads on the piping system, types of pipe support, and materials used for pipe supports. In addition, you will learn how to control pipe movement through the use of expansion joints.

At the end of this course, there will be a multiple-choice, open-book quiz designed to enhance your understanding of the course material.
