Course Outline
Licensed contractors hold ethical responsibility in dealing with the consumers. Accordingly, the services provided by contractors require high standards of integrity, business ethics and professional responsibility in dealing with customers. This course presents an overview of the professional codes of ethics for construction contractors, discusses their responsibility to society, describes the professional misconducts associated with the contractors, and provides a list of steps to ethical decisions.
* Note: This course cannot be used to satisfy Florida’s 1-PDH requirement in Florida Ethics and Responsibility (you need to take R1017.)
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, the student will:
- Be able to understand the importance of ethics in construction;
- Be able to become familiar with codes of ethics for contractors;
- Be able to understand ethics standards and social responsibility;
- Be able to know the various types of professional misconduct in construction; and
- Be able to apply the steps in ethical decision making.
