Course Outline
As of January 2020, approximately one dozen U.S. states and territories have adopted the 2018 International Building Code. This course highlights the structural provisions contained in Chapter 16 of the 2018 International Building Code (the Code), and is designed to help engineers become familiar with the latest building code requirements. The course materials are based entirely on the 2018 IBC Chapter 16 - Structural Design. You need to study the structural provisions in the Code, the frequently asked questions, and the significant changes from the previous editions. In addition, you need to have a copy of the 2016 edition of the ASCE 7 "Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other Structures" to solve some of the quiz questions.
At the end of this course, there will be a multiple-choice, open-book quiz, which is designed to enhance your understanding of the course material.
