Introduction to Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC)

Course Outline

This course provides an in-depth exploration of the design, production, and application of Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC) in both structural and architectural contexts. Engineers, architects, and contractors will learn about UHPC’s unique properties, including its high compressive and tensile strengths, durability, and ductility, as well as its use of fiber reinforcement. The course covers critical topics such as material batching, casting techniques, curing methods, and quality control for manufacturing UHPC elements. Participants will explore architectural applications, including complex shapes, perforated panels, and lattice structures, alongside the economic and environmental advantages of using UHPC in infrastructure projects such as bridges, facade systems, and urban furniture. Practical case studies, including mega architectural projects like Stade Jean Bouin and MuCEM, demonstrate how UHPC enables innovative design and performance in modern construction.

At the end of this course, there will be a multiple-choice, open-book quiz, which is designed to enhance your understanding of the course material.
